What Does Your Perfect Day Look Like?

I recently listened to an episode of Alex Charfen’s podcast about the perfect day. It really had me thinking about how I run my business and I want you to think about it too.

So, take a minute to dream a little. Close your eyes and get a really good vision in your mind of your perfect day. What does it look like?

Is it a day of spending time with your favorite clients? Is it having enough white space to spend extra time with family or just for some “me time.” Is it having he space to create that new service or write that book? Or, maybe it is just a day where you are not spending putting out fires or dealing with emergencies?!

What if your perfect day was possible every day? Well, guess what? It is. It may take some planning and some initial work, but it is possible. Here’s how:

Step One:

Get a clear picture of what you really want your perfect day to look like. You can’t have your perfect day, week, month, year, or life if you don’t know what that day is supposed to look like.

If possible, take some time to write it down. Be as specific as you can. The more specific and detailed the better.

Step Two:

Create an actionable and achievable plan. What are the things that you will need to do or get done in order to create that perfect day/life? What is the timeline / deadline for each of those things? What changes in my mindset and/or business will I have to make in order to achieve my goal of the perfect day/life?

Step Three:

Build your team. If you don’t have any team members in place at the moment, now is the time to start thinking about building a team. You can’t create a thriving and successful business, while having a balanced life, by yourself.

If you are leery, or don’t know where to start, start small. Can you bring on a Virtual Assistant, graphic designer, social media manager, or content writer? If you already have a small team, can you bring on an Online Business Manager, to take over the daily operations of your business or to manage your team?

Step Four:

Automate, automate, automate. Automation is the key to running your business rather than it running you. Even if you have some automation in your business, it can always be improved!

Step Five:

Create some systems for your business. Systems are essential to running a smooth business and for allowing you to step away from your business. You probably have systems in your business but don’t realize it. However, now is the time to be intentional about creating sustainable systems.

Tina Forsyth recommends the following systems: backup systems, money systems, scheduling systems, communication systems, metric systems, marketing systems, relationship systems, sales systems delivery systems, and business foundational systems. Do you have systems in place for each of these areas of your business?

Once these steps are completed, it doesn’t mean that you will automatically have the perfect day/life, of course. From these steps you can work on creating and tweaking the best work/life balance that you want. Your perfect day will change as your priorities, wants, and needs change, too. However, these steps will give you the starting point you need to get going.
