Fiction Blurb (What do you think?)

I am going out on a limb here. I don’t think I have ever posted a fiction piece online but I decided to step out of my comfort zone. (Oy!!!)

As you  may know, I’ve started created journals recently but my son wants me to start writing “real books” (his words. 🙂 Actually, he wants me to start writing a series of children’s books and he even has topic ideas to get me started!

What he doesn’t know is that I have been secretly writing fiction for a long time. I often write up snippets of ideas or short stories or poems in a private journal that I have. I’ve toyed with the idea of putting them together and/or writing a fiction piece for publishing but I am not sure if I am ready to take that plunge yet.

Still, since I am looking in going that direction, I decided to take a little chance and post a little blurb. It came to me a couple of days ago after Andrew was after me to start writing a book:

It took Drew exactly 2.2 seconds to notice something was amiss. To the naked eye, the room looked normal but Drew knew better. He noticed the desk chair was slightly pulled out from under the desk. He saw the small creases on his bed. He even saw that the window curtain was opened a tiny bit more than the way he left it. Someone had been in his room and Drew knew why.

Slowly and carefully, Drew moved about the room looking for clues as to the possible intruder. He had an idea of who it was, Simone. She was clever, that one, but thankfully she was wrong to think that she would find the papers in Drew’s room. No, he was too smart for that. Drew knew that he had to hide the papers somewhere safe and so he hid them well.

So, for now, his secret is safe.

What do you think? With some work, I think it has potential to be a good story (not necessarily a children’s story, though). What writing pieces are you working on right now?
